Charity Auction!

 Charity Auction!

Today we are going to switch things up a little bit here. Currently, the Detroit Red Wings have been hosting a weekly charity auction online that started February 27th and will run through March 31st of this year.

Currently, they are auctioning some pretty cool stuff. Right now they have something called a “Michigan Boys package” which is meant to highlight the Michigan natives that are currently playing for the Red Wings. Some of the contents include used Dylan Larkin memorabilia, a basket of Red Wings player's favorite things, a behind-the-scenes broadcaster experience, as well as a Tate McRae concert package, and more.

There will also be “Flash” packages available for only 48 hours at a time that will give the fans the chance to bid on meet-and-greet events with Red Wings stars like Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider, and Alex Debrincat. With all these amazing things available I would recommend checking it out and placing a bid of your own.

If you do decide to bid on something, know that all the proceeds of this auction will be going to the Detroit Red Wings Foundation which works hard to support youth education, community wellness, and continuing to grow the game of hockey. Pavel Datsyuk Promotional Night!

As I’m sure we all know, many different professional sports teams like to use what they call promotional nights to boost ticket sales and overall interest in a game. Our Detroit Red Wings are no different and have an exciting one coming up that I want to share with you.

On March 4th the Red Wings will be honoring one of the greatest Red Wings players of all time with a Pavel Datsyuk stick case giveaway sponsored by Coca-Cola Zero. This exclusive item will only be available to the first 7,500 fans in attendance.

I have always thought these promotional nights were so much fun. When you go to one of these themed nights or promotional events in person you can feel the energy throughout the arena. This does wonders for both the team's performance and the overall enjoyment of the fans in attendance. This can be especially important on a night like the 4th where we are taking on a great team in the Carolina Hurricanes.

Furthermore, I think the Red Wings made a great choice in choosing to honor Pavel Datsyuk with this new stick case giveaway. Pavel is a legendary figure to the Detroit Red Wings and the fans. He was part of 2 Stanley Cup-winning teams in both 2002 and 2008, won multiple Lady Byng and Frank J Selke awards, and was voted one of the top 100 NHL players of all time.

Overall, I think March 4th will be a night to remember and I hope everyone can get there early enough to get their promotional Pavel Datsyuk stick case!

Red Wings Classroom Reading Challenge

 Red Wings Reading Challenge

Welcome back, everyone! As you can see this post is not simply a game review but something that is way more important. As an organization, the Detroit Red Wings have always made it their mission to be more than just a hockey team to the Detroit community and the rest of Michigan.

Recently, the Wings sent one of their young and rising stars Marco Kasper to participate in a very important community challenge. This challenge is called the Red Wings for Reading Program. This program runs throughout the season and is a no-cost literacy program for kids K-5 here in Michigan where the top performing program at the end of the season will win a $2,500 library upgrade for their school.

On the 27th of January this past month, Kasper made a stop at New Paradigm Glazer Academy in Detroit Michigan. While he was there, Kasper spent time reading with the classroom as wel as shopping for books with them when the reading was over. For any interested teachers in the Detroit area you are able to register and learn about this fun and enriching program using this link https://bit.ly/Wings-for-Reading

As Red Wings fans, I think we can all agree that things like this are what separates Detroit sports from everywhere else. Pictured below is Red Wings star Marco Kasper reading to the students at New Paradigm.

Red Wings on the up with new coach

 1/20/2024

Red Wings Update

Recently there have been a lot of changes within our Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings started this season in a very underwhelming fashion being led by former head coach Derrick Lalonde. Compared to the end of the season last year, any semblance of a successful season was out of reach. Recently though, this has changed. Just after Christmas the Red Wings organization decided to move on from Lalonde and they hired new head coach Todd McLellan. Under this new leadership, we have seen a different team on the ice.

Immediately upon hiring Todd McLellan the Red Wings went on an incredible season-high 7-game win streak. This impressive turnaround has seen us record some crucial wins against strong opponents such as the Winnipeg Jets, Washington Capitols, and the Chicago Blackhawks. While it is important to realize that there is a lot of season left to play, I think there is a lot of promise that we can take from this win streak. Something important that I am seeing with this team is their hunger as a team has been revitalized. This hunger is what will give all of us fans back the playoff dreams we have all had for this Red Wings team.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog and I’m excited to share more updates here as the season progresses.

Meet our new head coach here:
